Abstract
As UK government commits to expanding AI-mediated public services, citizens increasingly interact with the state through artificial intelligence rather than human agents. These policy briefs draws on research on patient perceptions of rapport in a health booking chatbot (10.1016/j.lingua.2026.104200) to make policy recommendations for AI Chat in gov.uk and health services, using key documents such as the Service Manual, self-assessment tools and accessibility standards.
