Expertise
I am a social scientist with an academic background in gender and LGBTQIA+ rights, violence, labour, housing and health. I have 10 years’ third sector experience in research and campaigns with a focus on child rights, sexual and reproductive rights, mental health and social justice.
I am particularly interested in doing work to improve understanding of how violence against minoritised and marginalised people operates at direct, cultural and structural levels; the neoliberal institution of work and its impact on wellbeing, especially for trauma survivors; and the role of law and policy in addressing health and social inequalities broadly.
My research is interdisciplinary, spanning public health, medical sociology, political economy, social psychology, queer and feminist theory, media and cultural studies. I am passionate about making sure community-embedded, survivor-led research is supported, funded and elevated within academia and policy moving forward.
