Expertise
Prof. Wu is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Surrey and was an EPSRC Advanced Research Fellow (2005-2010, EP/C545249 & EP/C545230). He is also the coordinator of two EU consortia (FP7/IPROCOM and H2020/MATHEGRAM) on the modelling of particulate materials involving the use of discrete element methods (DEM) with total budgets of over €3.8M and €4.2M, respectively. In addition, recently funded by EPSRC (EP/M02976X and EP/N033876), he has been developing advanced DEM and coupled DEM with fluid solvers (such as computational fluid dynamics, CFD, and lattice Boltzmann method, LBM). He is an executive editor of Powder Technology and has expertise in DEM, DEM-CFD, multiscale modelling, particle technology and granular dynamics. his expertise lies in advancing DEM-CFD including coupling with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and Lattice Boltzmann methods (LBM), modelling irregularly shaped particles, contact electrification and electrostatic interaction, population balance modelling and GPU based DEM for industrial applications.
