Abstract
Individuals from families with a known cancerpredisposing gene mutation and those who are assessed to be at high risk of cancer or who have complex cancer family histories may be referred to a genetics clinic. Genetic testing for cancer predisposition raises many complex and challenging issues for the individual seen in the clinic and for their relatives. After studying this chapter readers should understand the process of genetic counselling for cancer predisposition, be able to discuss the psychological impact of genetic testing for individuals with and at risk of cancer, consider the guidelines and implications of genetic testing in childhood and be aware of the reproductive choices available for individuals with a cancerpredisposing gene mutation.
