Abstract
This entry provides an overview of the job seeker in organizational psychology. It describes key concepts in the literature including a definition of what job seeking is; job seeking phases; how job seeking is measured; and who a job seeker is. Following this overview, a critique of job seeking in organizational psychology is presented, reflecting upon the largely positivist, quantitative conceptualisation of job seekers within the field. Directions for future research are discussed such as a need to broaden current ways of thinking about, and exploring the experiences of contemporary job seekers.
