Abstract
Design of offshore wind farms in seismic regions could be challenging and therefore detailed analysis is often required. This chapter introduces frameworks to design bottom fixed and floating offshore wind turbines in seismic regions. The approach includes site response analysis and p–y spring method to estimate the behavior of the foundation to a given strong motion. An example of 15MW NREL wind farm was used to estimate different types of foundations behavior for a given site response. The results indicated that jacket foundations are more suitable in seismic regions than monopile foundations.
