Abstract

With the completion of the Human Genome project, it is now possible to offer genetic testing for an increasing number of diseases. This chapter discusses the role of stress in predictive genetic testing, with a focus on whether stress influences decisions to have genetic tests, the impact of test results on feelings of stress, and the cognitive appraisal of genetic risk information. © 2007 Copyright © 2007 Elsevier Inc.
