Abstract
From 2014, Drs. Hosein and Rao (being both international academics) have researched and published work on international academics working within the Social Sciences and their transitions into the UK universities. These international academics as part of their role profile are expected to both teach and research. Therefore, supporting their research needs of international academics cannot be done in isolation of their teaching needs. This response shares some key findings from our research in creating inclusive work environments to aid the extent that international academics feel a part of their organisation. Building inclusive and supportive work environments are known to be a key contributory factor in the retention of personnel. Our response here provides the recommendations for attracting and retaining international academics by creating staff development and supportive frameworks that meet the specific career needs of international academics in order for them to make optimal contributions to their institutions and Britain.
