Abstract

Conferences Contacts Current Displays Printing Thin film transistors Transistors
Many of the longstanding and recent challenges in thin-film transistor display backplanes can be solved by adopting alternative device architectures that are manufacturable with existing materials. The multimodal transistor (MMT) is a dual-gate TFT that uses contact energy barriers that separates the analog drain current magnitude from digital switching/timing and is compatible with either source-gated transistor (SGT) or dual gate TFT processes, with minor changes to design/process. Its mixed-signal functionality allows for highly compact and functional circuits that include low off-state currents and tunable transconductance, among other features. Applications in AMOLED, micro-LED, and back light unit (BLU) driving, among others, would benefit.
