Expertise
I enjoy research in the area of ultrasound and sonochemistry, and sustainable, waste-driven supply chains. This comes from a background of ultrasonic processing of residual biomass and has expanded to general ultrasonic applications, research into the conversion of lignocellulose and waste to value added products, and other waste-driven supply chains.
Current Research Areas
Environmental remediation of per- and poly-fluoro alkyl substances.
Sustainable hair dye development and application.
Supply chain analysis: waste and surplus as feedstocks in new supply chains.
Chemical reactions of ultrasound: parametric effects, gas-liquid reactions and the sonochemistry of lignin.
Ultrasound for biological applications: bacteria inactivation and sonodynamic therapy for cancer treatment.
Biorefinery modelling: supply chain assessment, techno-economic modelling and related ontologies.
Chemical engineering curriculum development using ontologies.
