Jonathan Williams is Professor of Banking and Finance at Surrey Business School.
Professor Williams is the Chair of the European Association of Teachers of Banking and Finance (Wolpertinger Society), Treasurer of the Financial Markets and Institutions Special Interest Group of the British Accounting and Finance Association, Series Editor of the Palgrave Macmillan Studies in Banking and Financial Institutions, and Managing Editor of the International Journal of Financial Systems. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Turin, Italy, and Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, China.
Professor Williams' interests include banks and banking systems; financial regulation and deregulation; corporate governance and executive compensation; competition, stability, and efficiency; FinTech and financial innovation; and the impact of banking on the environment.
Professor Williams publishes in academic journals, such as the Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Stability, and Regional Studies amongst others. He has presented his research at institutions including The World Bank and Deutsche Bundesbank as well as at conferences and universities across the world.
