Abstract

The design of masonry walls was studied and the effects that shifts in the neural axis have on wall-resisting moments were examined. Recommendations were then made on how these factors could be included in the design process. A model was developed that related direct loading on a joint to moments that it is subject to. The interaction diagrams had two forms. One of the forms represented the compressive failure mode; and the other a tensile failure mode.
