Abstract
Clinical gait analysis encompasses a range of techniques used to analyze human locomotion, in particular the effect on this of disabling conditions. A thorough understanding of the impairments leading to locomotion abnormalities is important in determining plans for treatment, such as surgery. This chapter provides an introduction to the subject area, a description of normal gait, a detailed description of kinematics and kinetics, and an overview of electromyography, energy expenditure, and data interpretation. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd All rights reserved.
