Abstract
This research addresses the lack of comprehensive databases on local media outlets in the UK through the development of a semi-automated system that leverages open-source intelligence (OSINT) and computational workflows to maintain a comprehensive directory across print, digital , radio, and television in the UK. The system tracks closures, launches, ownership changes, and geographic coverage, significantly reducing manual research labour for the database maintenance while enhancing data accuracy (PINF 2023; The Media Reform Coalition 2023; Bisiani and Heravi 2023).
