Abstract
Aluminum-ion batteries (AIBs) have the potential to offer high energy density, low cost, and high safety promises. This chapter provides a comprehensive review of the technical challenges with AIBs, as well as novel strategies and new development in cathode materials, electrolyte, and aluminum metal anodes for the development of practical AIBs. This chapter aims to provide an overview of the current state-of-the-art of AIBs and inspiration for the future research and development of AIBs.
