Abstract
The family history clinic model provides a structure for systematic cancer risk assessment and consistent and evidencebased risk management. Based on over ten years experience of working with a network of nurseled cancer family history clinics in primary and secondary care in southeast England, this chapter will focus on the practical issues involved in setting up a clinic, considering the evidence for collaborative working across disciplines and organisations, identifying the benefits of cancer family history clinics for patients and health services and reflecting on the key elements involved in setting up a cancer family history clinic in primary or secondary care. Examples from practice will be used to demonstrate the practical implementation of setting up a clinic.
