Abstract

AI ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE BUSINESS MODEL GENERATIVE AI UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS Technology
Emerging technologies offer transformative benefits across various domains, leading to increased levels of automation, organisational efficiency, and convenience from a consumer perspective. Yet technological advancements frequently lead to unintended negative outcomes. For example, artificial intelligence (AI) creates sustainability and ethical challenges. This research will investigate common pathways responsible for these unintended consequences in the empirical context of AI. We extend established technology adoption theories that fall short to sufficiently consider consequences that may emerge with widespread usage. We contribute to theory by developing a novel, nuanced conceptualisation of unintended consequences of AI. By fostering a deeper understanding of these dynamics, the study seeks to develop strategies to mitigate or prevent negative outcomes, contributing to more responsible and sustainable technology development.
